  6. This document provides late-breaking or other information that 
  7. supplements the Creative Video Blaster WebCam 3/WebCam Plus
  8. documentation. Please read all the sections before you proceed with
  9. the installation.

  30. 1.   INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION
  31.      ---------------------------

  33.      Before installing any drivers, be sure that the USB ports are enabled in
  34.      the BIOS.
  35.  
  36.      For the correct installation steps, refer to the User's Manual.
  37.  
  38.      If the drivers need to be re-installed, uninstall the existing
  39.      drivers first. 
  40.      
  41.      To uninstall the drivers:
  42.      1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  43.      2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs 
  44.         icon.
  45.      3) In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select
  46.         Creative Video Blaster WebCam 3/WebCam Plus Driver from the
  47.         list and click the Add/Remove button.
  48.      4) Follow the instructions on the screen, if any.

  51. 2.   USB COMPATIBILITY
  52.      -----------------
  53.  
  54.      A small number of motherboards do not meet USB specifications.
  55.      These may not be compatible with WebCam 3/WebCam Plus. 
  56.      
  57.      Refer to Appendix C of the User's Manual for details.

  60. 3.   IMPROVING USB DEVICE STABILITY
  61.      ------------------------------
  62.  
  63.      In some cases, slowing down the hardware graphics acceleration 
  64.      can improve the stability of USB devices.
  65.  
  66.      To adjust the hardware graphics acceleration:
  67.      1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  68.      2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the Displays icon.
  69.      3) In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  70.      4) In the Settings tabbed page, click the Advanced Properties button.
  71.      5) In the Advanced Display Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab.
  72.      6) Drag the Hardware Accelaration slider to the left to reduce the rate.

  75. 4.   TROUBLESHOOTING
  76.      ---------------

  78.      Problem: 
  79.      There is no video displayed when the application is in the Live
  80.      Cam mode.
  81.  
  82.      Solution:
  83.      *  Use the Device Manager to verify that the USB Host
  84.         Controller has no resource conflicts.
  85.      *  Slow down the graphics hardware acceleration.

  88. 5.   NOTES ON WEBCAM CONTROL
  89.      -----------------------
  90.  
  91.      - Video Blaster WebCam Control 2.13 is designed to work best with
  92.        Microsoft(r) DirectShow(r) WDM camera devices. Support 
  93.        for older VFW devices is provided via the default 
  94.        DirectShow(r) runtime libraries.
  95.  
  96.      - Certain Video and Audio compression/decompression drivers may 
  97.        not work correctly with Video Blaster WebCam Control 2.13.
  98.        Some recommended codecs for video are:
  99.        - Intel(r) Indeo(r) 3.2
  100.        - Intel(r) Indeo(r) 5.04 Compression Filter
  101.        - Cinepak Codec by Radius
  102.  
  103.        A recommended audio codec is:
  104.        - PCM
  105.  
  106.      - Due to the high-performance requirements of displaying
  107.        images in high resolutions, it is recommended that you do not 
  108.        set the video size greater than 320x240, unless you are 
  109.        running a Pentium-II(r) system with at least 64 MB RAM.
  110.  
  111.      - The banding filter option has been disabled in WebCam 3/WebCam Plus.
  112.        If you see banding or flickering in the video window, go to
  113.        Source->Camera Control, and click the Cancel Flicker button.
  114.  
  115.      - The Compression options in Format->Stream Format are not
  116.        applicable to WebCam 3/WebCam Plus.
  117.  
  118.      - A Lighting setting is now available in General->Source. The 
  119.        options are Fluorescent and Tungsten. Select Fluorescent for
  120.        fluorescent-lit rooms and Tungsten for rooms with strong warm 
  121.        light. The default option is Fluorescent.

  123. 6.   KNOWN PROBLEMS
  124.      --------------
  125.      
  126.      - In Windows 98 and Millennium, the Lighting setting does not
  127.        function properly after a video is recorded or an image is captured. 
  128.        To restore the setting, run the application again.
