1. INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLATION
---------------------------
Before installing any drivers, be sure that the USB ports are enabled in
the BIOS.
For the correct installation steps, refer to the User's Manual.
If the drivers need to be re-installed, uninstall the existing
drivers first.
To uninstall the drivers:
1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs
icon.
3) In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select
Creative Video Blaster WebCam 3/WebCam Plus Driver from the
list and click the Add/Remove button.
4) Follow the instructions on the screen, if any.
2. USB COMPATIBILITY
-----------------
A small number of motherboards do not meet USB specifications.
These may not be compatible with WebCam 3/WebCam Plus.
Refer to Appendix C of the User's Manual for details.
3. IMPROVING USB DEVICE STABILITY
------------------------------
In some cases, slowing down the hardware graphics acceleration
can improve the stability of USB devices.
To adjust the hardware graphics acceleration:
1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the Displays icon.
3) In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
4) In the Settings tabbed page, click the Advanced Properties button.
5) In the Advanced Display Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab.
6) Drag the Hardware Accelaration slider to the left to reduce the rate.
4. TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------
Problem:
There is no video displayed when the application is in the Live
Cam mode.
Solution:
* Use the Device Manager to verify that the USB Host
Controller has no resource conflicts.
* Slow down the graphics hardware acceleration.
5. NOTES ON WEBCAM CONTROL
-----------------------
- Video Blaster WebCam Control 2.13 is designed to work best with
Microsoft(r) DirectShow(r) WDM camera devices. Support
for older VFW devices is provided via the default
DirectShow(r) runtime libraries.
- Certain Video and Audio compression/decompression drivers may
not work correctly with Video Blaster WebCam Control 2.13.
Some recommended codecs for video are:
- Intel(r) Indeo(r) 3.2
- Intel(r) Indeo(r) 5.04 Compression Filter
- Cinepak Codec by Radius
A recommended audio codec is:
- PCM
- Due to the high-performance requirements of displaying
images in high resolutions, it is recommended that you do not
set the video size greater than 320x240, unless you are
running a Pentium-II(r) system with at least 64 MB RAM.
- The banding filter option has been disabled in WebCam 3/WebCam Plus.
If you see banding or flickering in the video window, go to
Source->Camera Control, and click the Cancel Flicker button.
- The Compression options in Format->Stream Format are not
applicable to WebCam 3/WebCam Plus.
- A Lighting setting is now available in General->Source. The
options are Fluorescent and Tungsten. Select Fluorescent for
fluorescent-lit rooms and Tungsten for rooms with strong warm
light. The default option is Fluorescent.
6. KNOWN PROBLEMS
--------------
- In Windows 98 and Millennium, the Lighting setting does not
function properly after a video is recorded or an image is captured.
To restore the setting, run the application again.
